Answering WhatsApp and Instagram messages
In Malta, customers message. "Are you open today?" "How much is a fade?" "Do you have a table for four at 8?" Answering the same questions all day, often while you're with a customer, is where AI helps most.
An AI reply assistant can read your prices, hours, menu and FAQs, then answer those common questions on WhatsApp or Instagram straight away, including late at night. When a question is unusual or a customer is unhappy, it should hand over to a real person. That handover matters. Set it up so customers always have a way to reach you.
Taking bookings and orders
A booking system on its own isn't AI, but AI makes it easier to use. A customer can ask in plain words for "a haircut Saturday morning" and get offered free slots, instead of filling in a long form.
This suits salons, barbers, clinics, restaurants and short lets, where most messages are about availability. You still decide the rules: opening hours, how far ahead people can book, and what needs your approval.
Writing posts, menus and descriptions
General AI chat tools are good at first drafts. Give one your notes and ask for a short Instagram caption, a menu description or the text for your Google Business Profile. Then edit it so it sounds like you.
Be specific. "Write a short, friendly post about our new summer menu with ftira and fresh fish, no hashtags" gets a better result than "write a post". Always check prices, dates and dish names, because AI sometimes fills gaps with made-up details.
Translating for tourists
Tourists in Malta come from all over Europe and beyond. AI translation can quickly turn your menu, house rules or check-in instructions into Italian, German, French or other languages, and help you read a message that arrives in one.
It's good, but it does make mistakes. For anything that matters, like allergens on a menu or terms on a short-let listing, ask a native speaker to check it if you can.
What it costs and where it falls short
Trying AI yourself costs little. Many general chat tools have free or low-cost plans. An AI reply assistant connected to your WhatsApp or Instagram takes more setup and usually has running costs, which is why we quote it after a chat and it's normally part of a monthly plan.
- It can be confidently wrong. Check facts before anything goes public.
- It doesn't know your business unless you tell it. Keep your prices and hours up to date in whatever it reads from.
- It can sound generic. Edit drafts so they sound like you.
- Some customers prefer a person. Always offer a way to reach one.
Be careful with customer data
Don't paste customers' names, phone numbers, ID details or health information into public AI chat tools. Many services may store what you type. If you run a clinic or handle sensitive information, think carefully about what any AI tool can see, and keep in mind that data protection rules apply in Malta like anywhere in the EU.
When we set up AI replies, we keep them to what customers need answered: prices, hours, bookings and FAQs. If you'd like help, see AI replies on WhatsApp and Instagram or tell us what you need.
